Here are some Frequently Asked Questions:
Can I charge my phone with AnDock without using the fan?
Yes, of course. There is a switch on the backside which turns the fan on and off.
Why did you not use Miracast?
Miracast is unfortunately still very immature. Bugs such as the disconnection of the wireless network during data transfer are an unwelcome interference which does not yet meet our standards. The charging and simultaneous cooling would be impossible with Miracast.
Why is there no USB-Hub integrated?
This question we have faced before and we did accomplish to connect USB-devices even without the official support of it on the Google Nexus 4. However, the simultaneous use of SlimPort or MHL and USB is not possible at this stage.
Will there be AnDock for other smartphones?
AnDock basically works only with smartphones that support MHL, SlimPort or similar systems. Furthermore, for each smartphone model an individual adaptation is necessary which must first pass our quality inspection. We want to implement AnDock for as many smartphones as possible within our financial possibilities.
Why is 3D printing used for production?
The 3D printing process allows us to produce an individual and uncompromising design despite relatively small numbers and a unique material structure. If there is a higher demand, we will consider other types of production and pass the cost reductions on to our customers.
Do I need my own accessories such as an AC adapter?
An additional power supply is generally not necessary because we rely on the international standard USB, so you can use the included AC adapter of your smartphone. Accessories like HDMI cable, Bluetooth mouse, keyboard or controller are not included.
Is possible to use the USB-cable as a data-cable?
It’s not possible to use it as a data-cable, because of the SlimPort-Technology.
Is the fan loud?
In principle, the use of small fans always results in a certain volume. The fan we use is therefore equipped with a very high quality magnetic bearing system and reaches a unique connection of cooling capacity and minimal noise levels (26.8db (A)).
How stable is the fan?
The exceptionally long life of our fans is provided by the magnetic bearing. However, an exchange is possible if a fan fails. The easy access to the individual components of AnDock has always been one of our goals.
Does the cooling by the fan actually help?
Yes, as we were able to prove in many measurements, the fan ensures that the performance of your smartphones does not experience the usual temperature throttling. At the same time the smartphone remains cool, which has certainly a positive impact on the life of the components.
Isn’t a fan guard necessary?
The risk of being injured by such a small fan virtually does not exist. We self-tried it many times during construction and never got the smallest scratch. Only the fan got some scratches. We decided not to use a fan guard because without it the fan is much quieter with an improved performance at the same time.
