Warum wir Ärzte ohne Grenzen unterstützen

Liebe Unterstützer und Fans,
einen Teil unserer Überschüsse werden wir den "'Ärzten ohne Grenzen" in Usbekistan zukommen lassen. Der seit Mitte des 20. Jahrhunderts intensiv betriebene Baumwollanbau hat dort zu einer massiven Gesundheitskrise geführt. Während natürlich nicht alle Probleme auf den Baumwollanbau zurückzuführen sind, ist es unbestritten, dass die Baumwollproduktion für die Allgegenwart giftiger Chemikalien und das Austrocknen des Aralsees verantwortlich ist, was viele Gesundheitsprobleme in der Region verschlimmert oder überhaupt erst verursacht.
Ärzte ohne Grenzen sind eine von nur noch sehr wenigen Organisationen, die vor Ort helfen. Die Aktivitäten konzentrieren sich auf die südliche Aralseeregion, wo die NGO sich Menschen gegen Tuberkulose behandelt.

Dear backers and fans,
a part of our profits will be given to the NGO "Doctors Without Borders" in Uzbekistan. Since the mid-20th century, the intensified cotton cultivation has led to a rampant health crisis in this part of the word. Of course not all problems are caused by cotton, but it is clear that cotton production is responsible for the ubiquity of toxic chemicals as well as the dry-up of the Aral Sea, which has aggravated or caused many of the health problems in the region.
Doctors Without Borders is one of only very few organisations that help the people in this corner of the world. Their activities focus on the southern Aral Sea region, where they help treat people against tuberculosis.
