It doesn’t matter whether it’s with your family, friends, or acquaintances, everyone comes in contact with the subject of depression. Sadly it’s too often dismissed as a terse demeanour. Thus when one loses someone to depression, we often see the reality too late.
We all live with one another, whether family, friends or acquaintances. We help each other and support the ones we love without asking questions. We give attention, devotion and love without being asked, and give love without a doubt. We live with someone at our side, give and take and go our way together. The bond grows, and one feels secure. No one thinks that it could possibly end. Suddenly, brutally and without warning the person at your side is no longer there, because they have succumbed to the illness that is depression.
At this point begins Asphyxia. In the film we accompany a woman as she processes the painful loss of her boyfriend, to the point at which she is able to make a clear statement not to sink into depression herself, but to continue to live her life for herself and the memory of her boyfriend.
We want to reach you!
To all who want to contribute to the emergence of an exciting film.
The finished film will be shown nationally and internationally at film festivals. We plan to reach festivals like the German Short Film Award, the Max Ophüls Prize, Premiers Plans (France), the Berlin International Film Festival, etc.
It is intended to be a collaboration with Arte and 3Sat.
Sooner or later most of us will suffer the death of someone we love, someone who was very important to us. Then we all feel different and we all cope in different ways.
You can feel simplystunned and helpless, as though you can’t believe it has actually happened. In the face of loss things start to appear small and insignificant.
Some start to grieve, but they get stuck. The sense of shock and disbelief just goes on and on.Depressions, anxiety and fear may seem omnipresent, if you don’t try to let go.
Asphyxia is a story about bereavement. This film is touching and for anyone who has been bereaved, their family and friends, and anyone else who wants an inspiration for how to let go.
Asphyxia is also dedicatedto all who have gone from us – we will always remember them.
That is why I ask you to support me and this project.
The actors and crew have waived their fees.
However, in order to be able to produce a high quality Asphyxia various costs are still incurred. This is where your money comes into play. Your money will be 100% used for the production of the film.
- Equipment (a large and important part of the project and will consume the most money, as a whole dwelling must be equipped)
- Camera + Equiment
- Sound Equipment
- Lights
- Equipment Transport
- Costumes
The production of a no-budget project needs good provisions during shooting, otherwise the mood quickly turns sour.
Should more money be donated than we require, we will invest this in the marketing of the film.
Simone Geissler (cast, producer, story-book), Mike Hoffmann (cast) Pol Ponsarnau (Director), Bet Rourich (director of photography), Maik Schuntermann of Picturis production (co-producer)
We are very proud.
Asphyxia will celebrate the world premiere in Nevada by the High Desert International Film Festival (May 26 - 29).
If you are around L.A., Asphyxia will showing on Saturday, May 28, 2016.

There's still a decision coming this month from a potential sponsor. Fingers crossed.
From this week on, you will get more information about Asphyxia.
:)
We have had a view of shooting locatin yesterday. The main shooting location!
The ink is still not dry, but as soon as possible we would introduce our new sponsor!
:)
