„Kind of Blue“ is the studio album of the American trumpeter Miles Davis. Produced in New York in 1959 it is a milestone in the jazz history and the best selling jazz recording ever.Martin Sasse is amongst the best German jazz pianists and has performed alongside stars such as Sting, Bobby McFerrin and a few of Miles Davis’ musicians. Nowadays he plays on stage together with the legendary sax player Steve Grossman. What constitutes this music are those so-called magic moments, that can happen during recordings, concerts and other situations. This film aims at seeking and recording these moments. In New York Martin Sasse looks for Miles Davis' drummer and for one of the musicians of „Kind Of Blue“ recording, who is still alive - Jimmy Cobb. Martin and Jimmy have know each other for some time because of the concerts they performed together as well as the many conversations they shared at the bar afterwards. Martin Sasse is in the process recording a CD with Steve Grossman. He is looking for jazz, which is not a definition or style, but rather the crossover of authenticity, quality and myth. What was it that was so special for the best recordings? Can he conserve this life feeling? Could these musicians possibly put up any more mile stones? Could they keep the balance between cosmos and myth - in Jazz?
