CD and musicvideos Coolanova

We are using the standstill of the corona crisis to create new music and artistic videos, which we hope will inspire and motivate others.

After two albums with covers and our own songs, we, Coolanova, plan to produce an album with only our own songs. This is to be supplemented by two music videos. When viewing our pitch video, please turn on the closed caption "cc" function in English to get the translation from German.

What is this project all about?

After two albums with covers and our own songs, we, Coolanova, would now like to produce an album with only our own songs. It is to be supplemented by two music videos.

We financed the first two albums through our concerts. Due to the Corona crisis, we are not allowed to play concerts at all or only very rarely for the foreseeable future. Therefore, our earnings have collapsed completely. We now have time to write new songs, but no income to produce them.

For this reason, we need your support so that we can be there for you again with new songs after the crisis.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Music lovers of all ages who enjoy intellectually made jazzy pop music.

Why would you support this project?

The standstill in the Corona crisis has forced us into an extended tour break. We would like to put the ideas that we develop during this time of reflection into our lyrics. We hope to be able to inspire you with something extraordinary through our music.

Who are the people behind the project?

Coolanova are Josanne Thomas, Brigitte Volkert and Bernhard Heck.
The band was founded in 2011.
As a bass player, Bernhard brings a lot of live experience in a wide variety of styles. Inspired by Sade, Beady Belle and Morcheeba. He specializes in lounge sound worlds.
Keyboarder Brigitte brings a background of classical, rock and world music with a pinch of jazz. Her inspirations include Weather Report as well as Chopin and Thievery Corporation.
In 2014, the debut album was produced in '4square' (Brigitte's four square meter home studio) together with singer Michelle D. Walker. It seamlessly combined interpretations of well-known songs such as 'Overload' or 'Your Love is King' with original compositions. In the studio, they worked with drummer Manni von Bohr and percussionist Pitti Hecht, among others.
Singer Josanne brought new elements to the sound with her Caribbean fire in 2015 when Michelle retired to a more family life. With her warm charisma, Josanne shapes the appearance of Coolanova.
The trio's second album, 'Perspectives', was released in 2017 with music to listen to and personal lyrics full of depth. Original songs fill half of the album, while the other half contains interpretations of songs by Kurt Cobain, Chris Isaack and Prince.
