Das außergewöhnliche Sommerkioskcafé im Herzen des Zollinlandplatzes. Nachhaltig und voller Energie!

Staying at home was yesterday! It’s nicer out here! With a zero-waste pop-up Kioskcafé, we give the Zollinlandplatz in Bremerhaven new vitality and a place for community, fun and relaxation outdoors! With your support, an old shipping container will be converted into a gastrocontainer, which will offer you culinary delights, special drinks and culture. Together, we can make all of these possible. What is this project all about?

In the Zollinlandplatz, a place is to be created that does not yet exist in Bremerhaven. It is about the joint design of a non-profit area, a creative free space, which is to be enriched by many with life, ideas and culture. A place in the green, which invites you in summer to meet with friends and neighbors while enjoying food, drinks and programs.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Our aim is to create an outdoor gathering place on the Zollinlandplatz in Bremerhaven. A place for get-togethers, recreation and common activity. In doing so, one focus of the Zolli-Initiative—the expansion of plant diversity and animal species—is to be further implemented by growing herbs and vegetables in our own plant beds. As much as possible, avoiding the generation of non-recyclable waste. We want to create and expand awareness for a better handling of ourselves, the environment and the available resources. In this way, we would like to illustrate the thought in cycles and place it more in the focus of our daily activities. In addition, das Beet and the Zollinlandplatz should be a cultural contact point for all people of all generations, all nations, all cultures and all sexes. The goal of this campaign is, with your support, to cover the costs associated with such project.

Why would you support this project?

If you’re interested in revitalizing an inner-city open space,

If you’re interested in illustrating sustainability in a free-wheeling context,

If you’re interested in wastestreams running in cycles.

If you’re interested in creating an attractive open space and meeting place close to the city center,

If you’re interested in good quality food and drinks offered by a Container-kioskcafé,

If you’re interested in new design and development possibilities flourishing in the Zolli’s open space,

If you’re interested in more happenings in Bremerhaven,

Or if you can think of 1000 more reasons why this project deserves your contribution?

…then we are counting on you and your support. ????

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

Due to Corona, the opening of our project has unfortunately been delayed. Moreover, it was planned to generate initial funds from a circus trailer in the form of a to-go Kiosk during the conversion of the container. The anticipated crowdfunding at the end of March was also postponed because the situation in the catering trade could not be assessed. All the more reasons why we need your support now.
The container has been ordered and some of the equipment is already in place. However, there is still a good deal missing to complete it. For this reason, not only financial support is of great help, but also donations in kind.
The 7000 Euro will be used to finance the interior of the container. This includes:
-Electrical and water connection
-Floor and inner lining
-Container hatch
-Interior equipment (e.g. stove and oven, a double-sieved carrier machine for good expresso, a refrigerated counter, a dishwasher, a double basin, glass refrigerators, a freezer, lightings and more)

At the same time, the design of the outdoor area will incur additional costs. The money from the second funding target is therefore to be used primarily for this purpose. This includes the extension of raised plant beds, wind protection, sunshades and comfortable seating facilities. It should also be cozy in the community garden, where we have planned an open-air cinema beside the plant beds. For this, we still need a beamer and a screen. Furthermore, we are planning to convert a construction vehicle into a sound wagon. This will serve as a stage for concerts and performances, as well as storage for the technical equipment. The sound wagon can then also be used for other events in Bremerhaven.

Transparency is important to us right from the start, so we will keep you informed of the developments and financing through our channels (Instagram and Facebook). Also, we have uploaded a large part of the required materials as “Rewards”, hence you can see directly how your support is needed and how it will be used.

Who are the people behind the project?

On the one hand, this is me, Moritz Alber, the catalyst of this project. Thanks to my bachelor’s degree, I was drawn to Bremerhaven in 2013. I discovered the creative possibilities of this city at an early stage and so the first project was not long in coming—a student gardener’s initiative in the garden area Neue Aue. Thus began a varied, project -filled student life with many new friends in Bremerhaven, which ended with a degree in Maritime Technology. After two and a half years of professional experience in Finland, I was drawn back to the creative potentials in Bremerhaven.

Creative and enthusiastic are also the 133 Collective and the students of the “Alte Bürger”, known as a cultural hotspot. The team has already organized events, parties and raves. Together with “das Beet” and the Zollinlandplatz, the creative minds will have a chancelust
to put ideas into reality in a public place. Bremerhaven is looking forward to a colorful and cultural Summer! We are ready for it!

Not to forget the “Zollinitiatiive e.V.”, thanks to whose actionism made it possible to create the “Zolli” with the citizens. Otherwise, a very unnecessary shopping center would most likely fill the square. The Initiative has already done a great job with the Zollinlandplatz and we are happy to work together with them—to design the green spaces, organize workshops and implement joint ideas.
And then there are the neighbors, fellow citizens and friends, who support us with the project and turn the “Zolli” into a place of community.

And last but not the least, of course YOU and your support through the crowdfunding campaign, your donation in kind, your sharing, your telling around, your passing by, your orders, your cultural contribution, your workshop and your creativity.
