Umiak - Was ist das? Der Umiak ist ein Boot, das die Inuitvölker zum Transport, zur Jagd oder zum Verwandtenbesuch nutzten. Aufgrund der knappen Ressourcen in der Polarregion besteht es aus einer leichten Rahmenkonstruktion aus vor Ort verfügbaren Materialien, die mit Haut bespannt wurde. Dieses Prinzip möchten wir, 8 neue Umiakis, auf unser Lebensumfeld anwenden: Wir bauen in Hamburg-Altona einen Umiak und 2013 werden wir diese Bootsbauweise durch eine Reise in den Norden ausprobieren.

Ahoi!

Nach dem langen Winter frieren die Füße im Zelt nicht mehr fest und wir arbeiten uns langsam aber stetig Richtung Stapellauf vor. Jetzt gehen wir auch (auch langsam...) die Verwirklichung unserer "Dankeschöns" an, als Erstes werden wir das Keelbranding mit den Namen der UnterstützerInnen in die Tat umsetzen.
