Crowdfunding since 2010

"A house introduces itself" - The exhibition and the diverse supporting program are an interim use before the renovation work.

The pictures, objects and the furniture are telling about the past and present of the house. They are also telling about people who lived in it and about social and political environments. Furthermore, the house refers to a time when building materials were reusable to a large extent or of natural origin. In addition, the painter and photographer Karin Ries will exhibit photos from her "Spurensuche" project. -> DEUTSCHE VERSION IN DER NAVIGATION AUF DER LINKEN SEITE <-

What is this project all about?

A few years ago I inherited an old farmhouse which was in need of renovation in Gausmannsweiler in the Welzheimer Forest near the Ebnisee. The house with all the furniture and objects, the photos and documents and the building materials captivated me. And so I decided to embark on the adventure of reviving the house and developing concepts for its future use.

Here is the description of the project:
Art&Culture and old beams.

To touch and think on - a piece of contemporary history in Swabia. An exhibition with a diverse supporting program:
An old house has a lot to tell- it tells of (its) past, present and a possible future. The exhibition shows younger and older objects, which all come from the house. They are often fragments that open up spaces of association.
One example are photos that Karin Ries took in the house in 2015.

The exhibition is from July 21 - August 06, 2023
open at the following times:
Friday: 3 p.m - 6 p.m.
Saturday: 10 a.m. - 6 p.m.
Sunday: 10 a.m. - 4 p.m.

The diverse supporting program offers concerts, playback theater, a lecture on clay as a building material and many meeting spaces - an artistically curious journey of exploration in a graying half-timbered house.

The following events are already fixed:
Friday, July 21.
The exhibition opens with Latin American music by Luise Rauer (voc) and Fabian Klentzke (piano) among other things.
Saturday July 29, 10 a.m.-12 a.m.
Lecture: Clay as a building material plays an important role in the house now and in the future. Achim Pilz (architect, clay expert) and Rolf Canters (Construction engineer and energy consultant) will give a practical presentation on the building material, with which circular design is possible.
A concert with Oud and a performance by the Playbacktheatergruppe from Tübingen are planned.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

The exhibition, the exhibited objects and the program tell stories about a building and often beyond. The project wants to make curious what houses have to tell and stimulate encounter and exchange among the visitors.

In addition, "Art & Culture and old beams" should be introduced as a future usage of the house.

The target group are people from near and far.

Why would you support this project?

The support enables an artistic and informative project in rural areas. Contemporary history with many facets becomes visible and tangible. The project, offers the opportunity to learn about sustainable and proven construction methods, building materials and their usage today.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

All the money will be used for the costs of the exhibition and the events. Reaching the starting level of 1.800,- EUR enables the purchase of lighting systems for the exhibition objects. Each additional EUR donated goes towards material costs for hanging up pictures, insurance and fees for the participating artists*.
The total cost of the project is about 6.000,- EUR.

Who are the people behind the project?

Henk Göbel / Project Manager
I was born in Waiblingen in 1970. From the age of 14 I lived with my family in this farmhouse in Gausmannsweiler. I am an actor, mediator, trauma counselor and have a training in theater therapy. After 30 years in Berlin, curiosity and the desire to fill the house with new life led me back to my Swabian homeland.

Why does this project contribute to this goal?

The interim use of the property allows vacant space areas to be used as cultural areas, thus reducing vacant space loss per resident. Among other things, the reduction of vacant space loss provides evidence that agricultural, forest, and aquatic lands are being conserved for agriculture, forestry, nature conservation, and recreation for the public.
