FRACTO 2023

Fracto is conceived as an encounter for intersubjective exchanges, merging multiple perspectives into an embodied and shared experience where the primordial and the critical actively unfold in the enjoyment of unorthodox interpretation.

FRACTO Experimental Film Encounter is a film festival held annually at Kunsthaus ACUD, an independent art centre founded in 1991 in post-wall East Berlin. It is the only city festival and one of the few in Europe whose purpose is to promote the recognition and relevance of avant-garde and experimental film practices. At its core, the festival further aligns and reinforces Berlin's vibrant cultural openness and drive, presenting an average of 60 international experimental films each edition over a 3-day streak, proudly including an extensive list of world, European and German premieres.
The festival has two sections, a historical and a contemporary one, to create a survey of the experimental film scene and an opportunity to enrich it with novel perspectives and voices.

Fracto’s mission is to create an exceptional encounter capable of bringing together a local and global community of artists and spectators. Through transparent, high-quality film selections, and critically curated encounters, the festival has become established as a reference point for individuals who share an interest in the singularity of the medium, artistic practice and experience that avant garde film defines.

After six enthusiastic editions, we would like to strengthen our position within the community and affirm our take on experimental cinema.
The generous feedback and assiduous attendance at the past festivals suggest that we have made a mark in the local scene and within an international community, toward which we feel an obligation to deliver.

Corroborating Fracto's mission means letting experimental filmmakers achieve a concrete exchange with the spectator - an essential moment for the solidification of artistic output - as well as creating the conditions to have their works exist spatially in time.

With your participation you allow a community to survive and share filmic experiences that might otherwise get lost.

The collected donations will help Fracto e.V. sustain a part of the operating costs of the 7th edition of the film festival. This includes:

• Hospitality
• Miscellaneous

Should the sum total of donations exceed the minimum funding level, we reserve the right to employ any amount to fulfill additional festival-related expenses as we see fit.
