Crowdfunding since 2010

Our violin making workshop is moving and we need your support so we can create a great place for craft, music and culture!

We have found a place that offers much more space and atmosphere and is simply a wonderful fit for our craft. Here we would like to offer workshops, accommodation and in-house concerts in the future. But of course, above all, we will continue to build, restore, sell and rent out bowed instruments with great passion.

What is this project all about?

We are moving. From September you will find our violin making workshop in a beautiful old and currently somewhat run-down villa on the Lousberg.
In addition to the workshop, we would like to offer workshops, sit-ins, small house concerts, shared record evenings, overnight stays and much more in our new premises in the future.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Our customers and anyone who would like to become one.
People who are interested in the craft of violin making and would like to learn more about it in a workshop.
Anyone who is looking for a unique place to stay as a starting point for excursions in the region.
People who like our project and would therefore like to support us.

Why would you support this project?

Not only for us, but also for you, we want to create a place that inspires and that people enjoy visiting.
A workshop where you can experience craftsmanship. Where you can sit in the sun in the garden while you wait for your instrument. Where you can meet new people at events.
In addition, you help us to create a guest room with an extraordinary ambience.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

We renovate. Build new workbenches. Set up a kitchenette for our customers. Furnish our guest room. Get furniture for small events...
And last but not least: You keep our backs free so that we have the time to get everything up and running alongside our day-to-day operations in Schildstraße!

Who are the people behind the project?

For nine years we -Judith Huppertz and Christoph Verstraeten- have had a master workshop for violin making in Aachen's Schildstraße.
We have been building, restoring, selling and renting out bowed instruments and their bows here ever since.
If you would like to get to know us, you are welcome to visit us in our workshop (-:

Sustainable consumption

Why does this project contribute to this goal?

Regional craftsmanship
Resource-friendly: little waste: We use residual wood from new making in the restoration work
Traceable and fair origin of the wood
Communicating the value of craftsmanship. We show our craft, e.g. at markets or school classes
Rental instruments for adults and children with the option of changing sizes: this means that fewer instruments are bought and later lie around unused
