“Wer anderen eine Grube gräbt” will be a 50 min film by the brothers Kevin and Tobias Schmutzler. The student production company “FilmCrew Entertainment” is responsible for realising this project.
Synopsis
It almost appears to be an escape. An escape out of what we would call everyday life. David Keller decides to leave Germany. Everyday life has taken him with both of its strongest forces: consistency and pressure force him to capitulate and break out of his world - a world that is ruled by getting results, a world in which an individual has no space left for himself.
A few weeks later David arrives at a camp for foreign aid in India seeking to do something good, something he can be proud of later. However he learns about a way of living that couldn’t be more different to the European way. It is a culture
in which David not only makes new discoveries about himself.
We too want to avoid daily grind and start living what the film is all about: we want to go out into the world and achieve something. We already have the most important part of our starting capital: our lifeblood!
Apart from making a 60 min film we want to record our experiences for a 20 min documentary. We want to take the viewer on our adventure of making a low budget film on a different continent.
Our goal is to create a national and international link between students who all have the same passion for making films. We already have an alliance of students from different German universities and from the Jawaharlal Nehru University in New Delhi.
The film addresses everyone who wants to discover the world. It would be desirable, if after seeing the film the viewer just wants to grab his backpack.
Of course our aspiration is that people will actually see the film, because the reason for film is for telling stories. For this our platforms will be (international) festivals and art house cinemas.
Because our story could be yours.
(And without your help we would only get to the airport.)
The film is calculated for 40.000 €, out of which 8.000 € should be financed through crowd funding. The money will be used for transport costs, equipment and catering for cast and crew.
The project was initiated by the production company “FilmCrew Entertainment” run by students, who are mostly studying media studies in Bayreuth. At the moment there are 15 students from all over Germany and India doing the preproduction and working for free 24/7 to realise this intercultural project.
Kevin and Tobias Schmutzler are mainly responsible for the script and directing. Lea Esther Stüven and Lydia Wrensch are from production management and Leonard Caspari will be Director of Photography.
