ImpeRunde is a game for strategists and venturers, for long evenings in a circle of friends. The goal of the game is to become the strongest colonial power. The first player having established the required number of trading posts wins the game. The board is round and faces all players. Over 1000 meeples offer complex possibilities. The game board with 80 cm in diameter offers the necessary space for this.

Diplomacy: With which player do I keep peace? To whom do I declare war? I can only attack other players if I declare war on them at the beginning of a game round. Counterattacks are then allowed and expected.
Armies and forts: Infantry, cavalry and artillery make up the armies at that time. Infantry is cheap, cavalry of great speed and artillery of high combat power. Forts are hard to conquer and secure the borders.
On the high seas: light frigates and heavy ships of the line control the sea areas. In sea battles, ships are sunk or boarded. Armies can be moved quickly and easily across the oceans. On the high seas, however, enemy warships, storm and pirates are an imminent danger.
Secret service: If diplomacy and military resources fail, the players make use of betrayal and bribery. Uprisings are instigated, surprise attacks prepared.
Finances: Colonies and sea routes determine state revenues. The finances are limited and must be used judiciously. The state budget is clear and easy to manage.
Events: Uprisings, epidemics, storms and pirates are incalculable as they were in those days.
Strategy and thrill: Where I invest, how I use my armies and ships, whether I declare war or keep peace, is my decision. But in the end, the dice will decide too.
Interaction: diplomacy, skilful action in peace, confrontation in war and the use of the secret service lead to constant interaction between the players.
Easy to play: ImpeRunde is easy to play with its clear structure and simple rules. To make this possible has required many years of development. The quick guide at the end of the game manual allows you to start quickly. A helpful overview in tabular form can be found on the back of the game manual.
Flexible playing time: At the beginning, the players decide how many trading posts have to be set up to win the game. This affects the playing time and how hard the players have to fight for victory. Also during the game, the number of trading posts can be changed by the players.
Variety: The home countries of the players and the first colonies are determined by chance. Every game starts and develops differently. The beginner and the direction of rotation change with each round of the game.
Always in the running: The home countries of the players cannot be conquered. Until the end you stay in the game and can influence it.
Persistance: The game is made of wood, the screws are made of brass and the cotton bags are fairtrade! Even the sea chest for keeping the game is made of wood. Our passion for the game is reflected in the material! If treated carefully, ImpeRunde can still be played 100 years from now.
Wood - a natural material: The game is deliberately made of wood. As a natural material, wood can have irregularities in its shape, structure and color. Between the puzzle pieces, a small height offset of a few millimeters can occur. Cardboard instead would require the typical fold. When processing the wood, small defects can never be completely avoided. Each of the seven puzzle pieces is first shaped and then printed, so that small color differences can occur. Our game is not made of cardboard. We decided to use wood on purpose!
Finally, ImpeRunde does not claim to be fair, as the former times were not, either. Nevertheless, there are clear rules for war and peace! Enjoy the ups and downs of fortune and misfortune, the strategic moves of your opponents and the evening together! That's the real aim of ImpeRunde.
ImpeRunde is a game of strategy for venturers who like the thrill. Interaction and excitement are decisive features. Diplomacy and secret service provide the game with suspense. The game offers the space for many strategies. The age of sailing ships is the historical background. Everything is possible, nothing is certain!
ImpeRunde shall be sustainable and enthuse by its material. That's why we chose wood.
ImpeRunde is an exciting game with a historical background. The glorified age of sailing ships and pirates seems fascinating in retrospect. That is why a critical point of view on this time is necessary:
The age of colonialism brought tremendous wealth to the colonial powers. However, this was accompanied by war and the oppression of the people in the colonies. Many Asian countries were occupied and exploited. The Indians of North America and the Aborigines of Australia lost their land and their way of life. The advanced cultures of the Incas, Mayas and Aztecs were destroyed. Africa was divided among the colonial powers and thousands upon thousands were enslaved for working on plantations. Much time has passed since then, but the aftermath can still be seen today.
In the awareness of this, I issue a call to treat each other with brotherhood as a human - in the game and in real life. Moved by this desire, I conclude with historical declarations of rights of the 18th century:

27 years of development were invested in this game. Now it's done and the prototypes are made! A dream shall become reality. We will exhibit it at the Essen Game Fair 2018.

The game is sustainable made of wood. The game board consists of 7 large puzzle pieces. Two wheels of fortune decide on the events and where they occur. Over 1.000 meeples provide strategical versatility. The production takes place in Germany. The sea chest with the branding and the carrying ropes come from Austria. The organic cotton bags for storing the meeples are fairtrade!
The game will be released in 3 languages - in German, English and French.
First edition: For the first edition, we want to do the compilation of the games and everything else at home. We want to offer you a special price for the first edition, which is about 100 EUR cheaper than the later sale price in the online shop or retail trade (probably 375 EUR).
The game has already been manufactured as a prototype in all three languages (German, English and French). So the production will start a few weeks after the campaign. Our suppliers are already defined!
The components of the game are manufactured and supplied to us by various suppliers. Then we will make the game ready for you. Therefore, we expect that we can deliver it on May / June 2019.

In the photos you can see the prototype. I made the wooden box myself. The final wooden box will therefore look different (for example, with branding and lower material thickness). The cotton bags will probably not be stamped but colored. Other changes in shape and color (for example, the meeples) remain reserved.
We try to keep the delivery date. But since we are going to put everything together at home, we cannot quite predict that.

For over 30 years, I've been passionate about developing games. At the age of 18 I started with ImpeRunde. Study, family and work have challenged me, so that a lot of time has gone. These years were valuable for ImpeRunde as it became better and better. Now it's time!
I work full time as a civil engineer (specialist for geotechnics). It is usually about the founding of bridges and buildings. Securing against dangers from old mining also plays an exciting role.
I was able to finance DunkelRunde myself as it is a smaller game. But ImpeRunde is a really big project. That's why I need your support for the first edition of ImpeRunde!
