As an ensemble for early music, our intention is to get audiences acquainted with trio sonatas by the composer Kleinknecht.
It was our flutist, Miho Shirai who discovered a trio sonata by J. F. Kleinknecht by chance and we realized that it is a perfect instrumentation for our ensemble. As soon as we played the piece at our first rehearsal, it grew close to our hearts. We were surprised to find that there are no available audio recordings or CDs of trio sonata.
This album is of special interest to music lovers (amateur as well as professional musicians) who enjoy listening to instrumental music or play and are open to rarely played repertoire.
The literature of Baroque age is extensive and it is essential for us to be able expand our repertoire.
Special emphasis is given to lesser-known repertoire of the early and late Baroque.
These Kleinknecht trio sonatas fill a gap between Baroque and Classical for the flutes and are of amazing quality. Even though recordings of different musical genres are readily available for listeners, we are certain that audiences will enjoy discovering trio sonatas via this new medium.

The musicians of the ensemble for Baroque Music "La Cantonnade" got to know each other at the Frankfurt University of Music and Performing Arts. Their enthusiasm for chamber music, their interest in sound research and their desire to stage unknown repertoire of early and late Baroque brought them together.
