LÆMON is an innovative tech and design brand for those who want to feel free and safe. We developed a GPS bracelet with an integrated loud and silent alarm for your safety. Our name says it all: Just like the inside of a lemon is protected by its thick rind, with LÆMON we want to offer you the feeling of safety.

According to surveys, one in three women in Germany has already been sexually harassed, threatened, or stalked on the street. 80% of all women feel unsafe in everyday situations. Violence in private and public spaces is a huge problem and has many faces. Violence already starts with intrusive glances, unwanted come-ons, or insinuating remarks. When you avoid certain places or don't wear your favorite clothes to avoid harassment, this is already a form of violence.

With LÆMON we want to strengthen your sense of security in the long term and make a strong stand against violence so that YOU can move freely again. We don't want to accept the status quo any longer and want to create awareness with the help of smart technology and innovative ideas, leading to real social change.

* The functionality is based on IoT (Internet of Things) technology, making the bracelet independent of the smartphone. Internet of Things (IoT) is the term used to describe the network of physical objects ("Things") that are equipped with sensors, software and other technology to connect them to other devices and systems via the Internet so that data can be exchanged between the objects. In concrete terms, this means that the bracelet works independently of the smartphone, as it has customized antennas, as well as an e-Sim card - similar to a smartphone.

During our product development, we talked to many people who are tired of being restricted in their everyday life because of insecurities or fears. Are you tired of worrying about what to wear to go out in the evening, to avoid sending the wrong signals? Do you want to travel carefree or meet your next date? Do you want to take the train at night instead of driving?

It is especially important to us to strengthen your sense of security, protect your privacy and offer you effective help in case of an emergency. No matter whether it is for self-defense, self-protection, or making a stand against violence together with us.

Because everyone should always feel safe, whether in public places or at home. It's time we take our fears and concerns seriously and address this common climate of fear.

Why is the feeling of safety so important? Insecurity is a very subjective feeling that fundamentally influences your well-being and thus also your actions. Being afraid is a normal reaction to (perceived) danger. Even if the fear of being alone on the street at night is statistically unfounded, it still has its justification and reasons. The fear of many women grows with everyday harassment. We must take fears seriously and talk about them. If you are not affected yourself, ask your friend, sister, mother, or colleague whether they (always) feel safe. Violence in our society is something that concerns us all.

Of course, we cannot stop violence completely with LÆMON. We are also aware that it is not the responsibility of those affected to develop prevention tactics. Rather, we have to educate people on sexism and question the structural background of the problem.

Many great and important education and awareness projects are fighting to prevent violence from happening in the first place. However, it is a long way to get there. Following Elbert Hubbard’s quote "When life gives you lemons, make lemonade", we want to make the best out of the situation and do something NOW.

Through beautiful accessories that can be seamlessly integrated into everyday life, we want to create positive awareness that everyone deserves to feel safe in any situation. In doing so, we want to change society's perception, away from shameful panic buttons and towards timeless jewelry that makes a visual statement against violence and, incidentally, also offers effective prevention and protection.

With the successful completion of this crowdfunding campaign, we will produce the first 100 bracelets in size M and can deliver them to your home including charging station.

Furthermore, we will be able to finalize the other three sizes (S, L, and XL). From a financing sum of 50.000 Euros, we can start production in various sizes.

The Corona Pandemic is also hitting us. Electronic components are in short supply worldwide. Successful financing puts us in a position to invest now in the purchase of the necessary parts to secure production in the long term.

Our product development has already been financed by an external investment. As part of the EXIST program, our project is also funded by the German Federal Ministry for Economic Affairs and Climate Protection and the European Social Fund.

The extent of the success of this campaign helps us to bring further exciting partners on board and thus successfully build up LÆMON.
