What is this project all about?
This project is about the love of good food, love of my homeland, and love of my new home: Mainz.
Nowadays people often don't take the time for a proper lunch, so most of the time they end up grabbing something unhealthy. Food trucks equal fast food, but this doesn’t have to mean it's bad for you! It's important to me that my customers can experience healthy street food so I use fresh seasonal ingredients .
A crêperie on wheels would fit perfectly with Mainz's market culture, and food trucks reach a wide audience. Kids, students, elderly people, and anyone on their lunch break.
At Madame Morgane, food will be cooked following traditional French recipes, but not exclusively! On the menu you can find new recipes, influenced by my time in Rhineland-Palatinate.
What is the project goal and who is the project for?
I care about Franco-German friendship. It might be an abstract concept for lots of people, as it is mostly used by politicians, but as a French person in Germany I experience it every day. I would like to make this concept tangible for the people of Mainz – and what better way to transmit French culture than on a plate? I would like to show the best that Brittany has to offer and make people happy with delicious food.
Crêpes are already well known in Germany but galettes are nowhere to be found. These distinctive flat pancakes are made out of buckwheat flour and filled with a variety of ingredients, such as cheese, vegetables or sausages. They are typical of Brittany and trust me: try them once and you won't look back.
The project is for:
…anyone who has visited Brittany, loved it (of course) and would like a taste of their holiday at home.
…anyone who doesn’t know what a galette is and would like to try it.
…and everybody who already knows and loves galettes.
Why would you support this project?
Even though Mainz is very francophile, a real crêperie is missing…I want to change this! You can have an influence on what goes on in your city by helping through crowdfunding.
You can help a young entrepreneur to start her project. If you support Madame Morgane, you will very soon be able to feel like you're on holiday right in the middle of Mainz.
How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?
The €8,000 is part of a more substantial budget. It will be used to:
-buy a small food truck.
-fit it with all the necessary equipment
-help me pay for all the permits needed to sell at markets
-and buy the first carrots!
Who are the people behind the project?
Morgane is from Nantes, France. She moved to Mainz, Germany to study. She fell in love with the German way of life and decided to stay - but she hasn't forgotten her roots! She enjoys sharing French culture. She taught at a school, where she also gave French cooking classes. She also worked at the Institut Francais and has had several jobs in the restaurant business.
Morgane has always been a passionate cook and wanted to start her own project. With the competition “Schwärmen für Französische Kultur” she seized the chance to realize her dream, and at the same time to pursue her dedication to the Franco-German dialogue.
