Crowdfunding since 2010

We stand up for democracy – because it's something that we shouldn't take for granted. No party politics, lots of enthusiasm. (And fabulous T-shirts.)

We stand up for democracy. Based on our "action weekend" earlier this year in Berlin we've launched and supported a range of initiatives – in the run up to the federal elections in Germany, there is a lot to do. To continue our work we rely on your support and generosity. As a thank-you, in return for support of 25€ (23£) and more, our fabulous, sustainably and fairly produced "Make Democracy Great Again" or "Make the EU Great Again" T-Shirts are available, with which you can take a stand.

What is this project all about?

Democratic values and processes have taken a toll in many places recently – sadly, there is no magic bullet to reverse these developments and to sustain an open, dialogue-based society. Nonetheless, we are convinced that the work we do at the grassroots level matters – and has made a difference to the hundreds of people we have reached with it. We hope to continue our work – to do so, we depend on your support and generosity.

As a thank-you, in return for your support of 25€ (23£) or more, our fabulous, sustainably and fairly produced "Make Democracy Great Again" or "Make the EU Great Again" T-Shirts are available. The graphics are by the amazing illustrators Romy Bluemel (EU) and Doris Freigofas (Democracy), and were developed during the graphic recording of our "action weekend". Our T-shirts are produced sustainably (ecologically and socially) in premium quality from organic and fair-trade cotton. The friends of Integrale e.V. are already wearing them – have a look yourself.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

We stand up for democracy, political participation and an open, tolerant and dialogue-based society. We promote constructive political engagement and political participation outside of party politics through events like our "action weekend" and our dialogue fora. We support young initiatives in implementing their ideas. We help to create a network among people who are enthusiastic about democracy.

We do not represent any political party, party interests or other political institutions.

We have received financial support from the Robert Bosch foundation, the German National Academic Foundation and the Guerrilla Foundation in the past.

Why would you support this project?

Building on our "action weekend" earlier this year in Berlin with more than 130 participants, we've launched and supported a number of initiatives, such as a successful "action day" in Freiburg or the "Nous Sommes EU" campaign. The action weekend gave people from a range of different backgrounds the opportunity to kickstart their political and societal activism for democracy – either by developing and concretising new ideas in a team with other participants, or by supporting an existing initiative. You can read more about the weekend here.

By now, we're busy with the scaling of the concept of "action weekends" and "action days" to other cities, with hosting dialogue fora, e.g., in Münster, supporting the amazing Rettet die Wahlen ("Save the elections") initiative and are getting active ahead of the federal elections in Germany.

Last but not least: as a thank-you for your support our fabulous T-Shirts are available. Make Democracy Great Again (One T-Shirt at a Time).

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

1) Continuation and scaling of existing initiatives (90%)

  • Scaling the "action weekend" concept
  • Hosting dialogue fora and other events in the run up to the federal elections
  • Supporting "Rettet die Wahlen"

2) PR to expand our reach (5%)

3) Administrative expenses (5%)

  • Notarial expenses
  • IT expenses for our domain, hosting etc.

Note that all of us are working pro bono, so that there are no personnel or HR related expenses we need to cover.

Who are the people behind the project?

Our NGO Integrale e.V. – Förderverein für Integration (recognized as a charitable/non-profit organization).
