What is this project all about?

This project is an example of what fashion could be and showing solidarity. Fashion is political. Berlin is political. Unfortunately, we don't see this reality reflected in the prominent fashion landscape locally and globally today. Highlighting political topics in shows has been largely removed from Berlin Fashion Week. Voices trying to tackle uncomfortable subjects are being silenced or to say the least, cut off from funding. This project is about speaking truth to power and showing unity in the face of censorship, division and exploitation. We will NOT let any space get away with staying silent!

Innovation in fashion is predominantly connected to materials and production techniques. We believe innovation can mean fundamentally changing how we operate within fashion spaces. To us, throwing controversial topics and political agitation in the face of the fashion elites (and complicit brown-nosers) is innovative.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

With this show we aim to disrupt the world of fashion and reclaim our space. We want to use the power of fashion to break the cycle. This project is for people who want to be part of a revolution that cannot be silenced!

Our main goal is to inspire people to take action and remind them that only if we pull together, we can achieve transformative global change, which has become completely necessary. We will deliver a show which will leave the audience uplifted and hopefully inspired to take action.

But most of all, we want to spark conversations about political topics in the fashion world and encourage people to recognise that social and environmental justice is OUR fight and that solidarity is key.

Why would you support this project?

If your idea of fun is to disrupt spaces of privilege and entitlement, support our project - because we will deliver! This project is not about making profit, but covering our costs and having the most disruptive impact.

We all feel the urgency to take action, but most of us are too busy or face existential challenges to dedicate enough time to making a meaningful difference. System Recovery under MM serves as a bridge between our business model and our mode of activism. We recognise that sometimes the only way to do activism is to embed it into our daily activity.

We welcome any support from like-minded humans. If you'd like to join our team in any capacity, let us know!

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

The funds raised by this campaign will be used to pay the people working on this project. To produce a fashion show in which everyone involved is paid has become quite impossible for small self-made brands in Berlin without outside help. MM is an ethical brand, so we are raising money to pay everyone fairly - the more we raise the better. The funds will be used to produce the collection in our Berlin studio, produce the show, and reward our hard-working interns too. Our budget is in no way a fair representation of what people deserve to be paid. We are trying to be realistic about what is possible to achieve regarding our funding goal. Have a look for yourself.
