He countersinks a million screws in one year, travels around the whole world and combined his greatest passion with profession 20 years ago. Andreas Schützenberger is the most successful skateboard ramp builder in Europe, a passionate entrepreneur and a perfectionist craftsman.
The film shows his exciting background from his turbulent childhood in Passau via the discovery of his fervor for skateboarding to the realization of his big dream.
"MR. WOOD "is an honest and emotional documentary about self-fulfillment, enthusiasm, skateboarding and the desire to come home
"MR. WOOD "is my bachelor's degree in film in the course of the study program media art and design at the Bauhaus University Weimar. The script development for the film was originated as part of the talent pool TP2 in 2012/13, the training program for young filmmakers from Central Germany
MR. WOOD / documentary / approx. 30 min. / German, English
Goal is the realization of the film until autumn 2014. Two cinema premieres and the production of DVDs are already sure. In addition, the evaluations at national and international film festivals as well as screenings at various skateboarding events are planned. Ideally, a TV channel will be found to show "MR. WOOD“ and reach a broad audience.
"Because it's fucking awesome! Like a piece of wood", MR. WOOD would probably say! Become part of a project containing a lot of heart and soul and much love for filmmaking.
Afghanistan, Russia, Montpellier, Berlin, Passau - our protagonist is traveling around the world to build skateparks. And we would like to follow him to places like these! That’s why a part of the money flows into travel and subsistence costs and expenses for overnight accommodation for the film crew. To this must be added the costs for post-production (editing, sound design, color correction, etc.) and for the lending of camera and sound equipment. Of course, we also would like to provide a befitting premiere and to produce DVDs!
The phase of script development, research and the first days of filming were partly supported through financing by the Bauhaus University Weimar and the association AKKU e.V. However, we need your help to create a good film with great reach out of a promising project!
By the way: Please be assured that each supporter will get his money back if we do not achieve the required amount. The sums will be reversed by startnext.
For the last twelve years I have been skateboarding and this is almost the time I have the camera with me. At the beginning of my studies at the Bauhaus University in Weimar I met Clemens Beier who had become a good friend by then. He's passionate about writing screenplays and also a very good cameraman . Patrick Richter impressed me especially with his film "Neununddreißig". With this film he won the national contest at this year's International Short Film Festival in Oberhausen and is now responsible for the edit of "MR. WOOD”. In the north of Germany we are supported by cameraman Mark Kreuzwirth from Hamburg who filmed the footage in Afghanistan and by Johann Niegl, a student at the HfMT Hamburg who will compose and produce the music for the film. Friedhelm Mund is responsible for the sound design. The man behind the design of "MR . WOOD " is Erwin Lorenz, newly graduated Bachelor of Fine Arts, who already gained experience at Scholz & Friends in Berlin. The team is completed by Katharina Meißner and Juliane Seeber who take care of press work as well as public relations.
