Crowdfunding since 2010
The goal: Free of charge teach in an easy and playful way about the everyday therapy and make everyday life easier for children who have cystic fibrosis (6-16 years). Many children suffer from a chronic disease and must sometimes spend several hours a day for therapy measures. This presents a major burden for the children and their family environment. Using the example of cystic fibrosis our app "Patchie" shows that therapy can also be fun. The app will be available for Smartphone and Tablet.

Die Technik hinter Patchie | The technology behind Patchie

Euer Patchie-Team

Today we'd like to tell you some bits about the technology behind our Patchie app.

We'll talk about the frond end (for those of you who don't know what that is: the front-end is the part of an app that you as a user can see and interact with, in our case it's Patchie, the mini games, the therapy schedule etc.).

As you already know, we're developing Patchie for Android and iOS devices, in case we meet our stretch goal it'll be Windows Phone as well.

In order to not having to write a program for all those systems separately, we were looking at several tools for cross platform development. Eventually we chose the Unity3D engine, which appears to give us everything we need for Patchie: 3D functionality for Patchie and the minigames, a decent 2D user interface system for the therapy plan, video functionality for all the informative clips, etc.

Currently we are already working on a prototype for the therapy plan, as well as an early mini game that our game designer Moritz came up with.

Should you have any technical questions, feel free to ask.

Your Patchie Team

5/1/15 - We are often asked if Patchie could also help...

We are often asked if Patchie could also help children with diseases other than CF. That’s definitely a yes. However, we’re pretty committed to getting this App done right now for CF. Two of our team members are affected by this disease and we want to do it the right way. The result can (and will) easily be taken as a technological base for apps that support different diseases. You see there’s a lot to do. Please support us, together we can reach our goal!
