Crowdfunding since 2010

We want to save the seas - we want seas without plastic! For that purpose, we have come up with a revolutionary concept!

Our revolutionary idea: PGS - Pacific Garbage Screening! A floating platform, with special structural properties that allow for the filtering of plastic and plastic particles from the water. The platform functions without the use of nets - fish and other marine life are not endangered. Our aim is not to burn the plastic debris collected, but to use it as a value-adding resource - for example, by converting it into energy or using it to create biodegradable materials.

What is this project all about?

The basis of all life are our seas and oceans, they give our blue planet its name.
But we are polluting our oceans at an ever-increasing rate.
Without regard to real losses and costs, without real thought- and often, without even knowing it.

This is exactly what we want to change.

First, we want to make people aware of what is actually being destroyed.
Second, we have a concept for filtering our trash from our seas- including small particles.
The PGS platform is constructed to filter plastic without harming ocean life.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

Our target group could not be any larger.
Our entire planet and all of humanity.

We are committing ourselves to stemming the tide of plastic to the extent needed to allow our seas to recuperate and regenerate.
First, we want to customize our idea. So that it can be utilized in smaller formats in rivers and estuaries- from where most of the plastic enters our seas.

In a second phase we want to place larger platforms at locations at sea where there is a high concentration of trash. The platforms will collect the trash, before it can sink to the ocean floor and cause further damage.

Why would you support this project?

It’s simple: because each of us breathe - and for every second breath, we have the oceans to thank.
This is why all of us must become active and protect and rescue this blue wonder!

We at PGS want to take responsibility for a man-made problem. We have a duty to take care of our planet - our home.

You, too, live on Earth, you use plastic daily, and you are concerned by our future!
That is exactly why you ought to support us and help us safeguard our planet.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

If we succeed in securing funding, our goal is to finally take off at full speed!
We have a lot of plans, and a lot of ideas - but as volunteers we do have too little time and too little capacity to fully commit ourselves to our mission of saving the oceans. At least, until now...

In order to successfully steer the project forward, we need to be able to commit to it 100% - through full-time positions, research assistance positions, and start-up financing for R&D.
In addition, we need to finance a first prototype series, in order to turn the idea into a reality.

We want this thing finally out on the water!!

Who are the people behind the project?

We are a highly motivated and committed team, full of world-improvers and ocean-lovers. A bright mix of interdisciplinary skill-sets and profiles.
From architects, to civil engineers and hydraulic engineers, to biologists, graphic designers, IT specialists and economists - we’ve got it all covered. And everyone brings his or her own unique approach and passion for the project.

We don’t want to stand by passively watching our planet being suffocated by plastic. We are a young team and want to secure a live-worthy future for the generations to come after ours.

We want to leave the planet a little better than we found it.
We can fall - but we can also stand up again.
We are aware that this is a man-made problem, and that humans are to blame. But we also believe that we humans are the ones who can solve it!
We want to save the seas. We are PGS.
