We are an activist alliance. Many of us have fled, migrated, experience racism and material, classist exclusion and violence. Some are older, most are very young, fewer women, a handful of children.
Most have come to Bremen after months-years to finally find a place to stay.
Others have joined the alliance in solidarity, or stay even though they have already achieved their goals.
We have been organizing for more than four and a half years under the name Together we are Bremen. It all started with the protests against the camp "Gottlieb-Daimler-Straße", a camp for minors in an industrial area. Since then we have been taking our protest to the streets, demanding the right to stay, protesting against transfers, i.e. forced redistributions, and continuously working to create more sustainable conditions for the continuation of these self-organized struggles.
With the beginning of the pandemic and the latest crisis of capitalism, we put pressure on the Bremen authorities in a campaign that lasted for weeks, so that they finally took notice of the situation in the camps and demanded: shut down Lindenstraße, because in this initial reception camp the protection against infection was almost impossible and many people were exposed to the disease of Covid19.
Together we share skills, experiences, knowledge, time, houses and money. Together we make Bremen a city of solidarity.
