Hello, I am Anna Maria Roznowska. I am a director, living and working in Berlin.
Some of you already know me and know that I have always told stories where women, play the main character, in order to change the perception and reception of women as they are portrayed in films. Often I had to hear - why do I choose women as protagonists - why do I always tell these stories of these so-called strong women? That was 10 years ago. These are exactly the people who are now making films about so-called strong women. I have to laugh a little bit about this term of a strong woman. I think there are different forms of how we women choose to live and what we want to become or who we actually are. In the end we are human beings and that's how we want to be seen. Also, I was interested in depicting the environment in which we live in films and never in copying existing films or film realities. I try to lift people out of their marginalized space, against any categorization, stigmatization, to give them a normality, a right to be there. Fortunately, there are other female directors who have similar guiding principles.
