Hey! I am Tim. But actually this crowdfunding project is not about me. It is about us. Us, that are Isaac, Sonny, Svenja and a music festival called Rüt'n'Rock.

But one step at a time...

Svenja and I ran into Sonny in a Spanish School in Guatemala back in September 2016. One month later – on an Island in Nicaragua – Sonny asked a question, which formed the starting point of this project: “You build schools in Ghana, I was a teacher and I produce West African music… there must be some way we can combine the three, no?”

Svenja and I are both part of the Rüt’n’Rock association. The “RüRo” hosts music festivals since 2005. I happen to be its president. We run two events a year, the biggest one being a 2-day open air festival with about 2,400 "Rüt'n'Rocker". The income that we generate with these festivals is used for funding projects in our partnership community called Kalba in Ghana. Over the course of the last 12 years we were able to gather more than 130,000 Euros for Kalba. The association is located in the Emsland, which is in the Northwest of Germany close to the Dutch boarder.

Further to the association, I am also a member of the related Partnership Committee and have experience in the collaboration with the local committee in Kalba and the planning of aid projects for many years.
Based on this partnership and based on Sonny’s question in Nicaragua, we all found us standing in Kalba in October 2017; in a church turned into a mobile studio; together with Isaac, an amazing Xylophone player from the town. Here it was, where the idea materialized.

We run this project because we believe that music can connect people and cultures. We think there couldn't be a better way than using a mutual music project to not only build a great record, but use the income of it to build something physical that supports the future of the people of Ghana and our Partnership -- a school.
