Seit 15 Jahren verfolge ich in der Bildungsstätte Anne Frank das Ziel, neue und spannende Zugänge zu historischen und aktuellen Themen für Jugendliche und Erwachsene zu entwickeln.

Schon an der Entwicklung der „alten“ Anne Frank-Dauerausstellung in den Jahren 2002/2003 war ich beteiligt. Jetzt freue ich mich umso mehr, für die „neue“ Anne Frank-Ausstellung als verantwortliche Kuratorin ein ganz neues Konzept erarbeiten zu dürfen. Dabei geht es darum, zeitgemäße Fragen zu Anne Frank und ihrem Schicksal zu stellen und sie in ein Format zu übertragen, das herausfordert, vielleicht auch mal irritiert, aber auf alle Fälle nicht langweilt! Es geht auch darum, bewährte Ideen wieder neu zu überdenken – und sich von dem ein oder anderen Ansatz zu verabschieden, der für das Hier und Heute nun wirklich nicht mehr geeignet ist.

Diese wichtige Arbeit mache ich natürlich nicht allein, vielmehr habe ich ein großartiges Team an meiner Seite: Mit im Boot sind PädagogInnen, GestalterInnen und ArchitektInnen, die ihre jeweiligen Expertisen und Perspektiven mit einbringen.

Unser Ansatz in der Bildungsstätte Anne Frank ist partizipativ und interaktiv – das motiviert ganz besonders junge Menschen, eigene Standpunkte einzunehmen und Handlungsspielräume zu nutzen. Wir entwickeln Angebote für die politische Bildung in der Migrationsgesellschaft, die sich an den konkreten Lebensrealitäten von Jugendlichen heute orientiert.

Anne Frank migrierte mit ihrer Familie von Frankfurt in die Niederlande – unseren Bezug zu Migrationsgeschichten tragen wir also gewissermaßen im Namen.

In the past 15 years I have been working to develop new and interesting materials for young people and adults to approach historical and current issues.

I was already involved in the development of the „old“ Anne Frank exhibition in 2002/2003. I am very excited to be curating the „new“ exhibition and to work with a completely new concept. We want to ask questions about Anne Frank and her fate that can be linked to the present. Furthermore, we want to convey these questions and issues in a way that is exciting, sometimes even provocative but definitely not boring! It is also important to revise and to say goodbye to approaches that do not fit anymore.

Naturally I am not doing this on my own, but I work with an amazing team: we can count on the expertise and perspectives of pedagogues, designers and architects.
Our approach in the Anne Frank educational center is participation and interaction – we are motivating especially young people to form their own opinions and to express them. We develop materials for political education in the migration society which are oriented towards the reality of young people today.

Anne Frank and her family migrated from Frankfurt to the Netherlands– our link to migration is therefore included in the name and mission of our organization.
