Deepa Goonetilleke was born in 1985 in Australia. She has studied contemporary music, orchestral music and natural horn in Brisbane and Frankfurt am Main. As a chamber musician she has been a guest of festivals such as Tage für Neue Musik (Zürich), Festival de Musique de Strasbourg, Acht Brücken (Cologne), and the Warsaw Autumn Festival. Deepa has worked with contemporary groups around Europe including Ensemble Modern, MusikFabrik, Ensemble Linea, Ensemble Proton Bern and Lucerne Festival Academy Orchestra . From 2010 – 2011, Deepa was a member of the International Ensemble Modern Academy and from 2012 -2016, a scholarship holder of Live Music Now. In 2016, Deepa was a member of the Luxembourg Philharmonie Music Education Academy and a recipient of the Focuna, Fonds Culturel National Luxembourg. Deepa is one of the seven musicians in the award winning (Junge Ohren Preis) Lucerne Festival children's show HEROÏCA.
In the 2017 season, Deepa will be performing at the opening season of the Elb Philharmonie, Vienna Konzerthaus, Kölner Philharmonie and Alte Opera, Frankfurt.
