I am Lena Freund and a scientist at Fraunhofer. I completed my bachelor's degree in biology in Bonn and went to Hannover for my master's degree with a focus on biomedicine. Since 2016, I have been working at Fraunhofer IME in the Department of Functional and Applied Genomics and researching topics related to potatoes. Among other things, I was involved in the development of a simple detection method for potato viruses. With the beginning of the pandemic, we adapted our rapid test for the coronavirus. Since then I am able to combine my passion of biomedicine with my work and do research on good medical diagnostics.
