MARIA KOBZEVA (choreographer, dancer) started with rhythmic gymnastics in Canada and then studied at the Vaganova Ballet Academy. After graduation, she joined SPBT Theater and toured with a wide classical repertoire. To expand her knowledge, she studied contemporary dance in Frankfurt. Here she worked with various choreographers (Paula Rosolen, Dieter Heitkamp, Stephanie Thiersch, among others) and participated in many interdisciplinary projects. She won the Alix-Steilberger scholarship, as well as audience awards for her two choreographies at festivals. Her recent theatre productions include SINGULARITY (2019) and OBSERVE (2020). Interested in the film world, she collaborated on two dance films in 2020. She is currently a freelance artist, creating, collaborating and living in Frankfurt.
The idea of project "Patterns of perception" has already been developing in her head for 2 years. Together with Sandra Domnick she first created a short duet version, which grew into a 20-minute trio with Magdalena Dzeco. Now Maria plans to develop the concept into a full-length theatre piece with a larger group of dancers and present the piece in mid-April at the Offenes Haus der Kulturen in Frankfurt.
