I grew up in Puerto Rico and moved to Hamburg in 2008 after completing my linguistics studies.

I developed my singing and my other creative abilities mostly autodidactically. My mother was a great influence for my singing. She is not a professional singer herself, but she sings traditional songs from Latin America and the Caribbean wonderfully in her everyday life. She passed her appreciation for music onto my sisters and me. I also started to paint as a teenager.

At the beginning of my language studies in San Juan I was also able to attend some art courses and develop my own style. During this time, I became interested in jazz music and became more involved with the English language. My first language is Spanish, and until the end of high school I only had a passive understanding of English. Today I write my songs in Spanish and in English - I also like to incorporate text fragments from other languages.

When I came to Hamburg, I learned German and today I talk to my concert audience in their native language. Since not all the people in my concerts understand the English and Spanish lyrics of my songs, it is important for me to explain what the stories and motivations behind them are.

I released my first CD "Tiempo de Bolero" in 2009, at that time without a record label. The CD contains romantic classics from Latin America, songs that had a profound significance in my life and which I recorded together with my husband Georg Sheljasov on guitar.

In 2011 and 2014 my two albums "Life In The Sands" and "Under Neon Stars" were released under DWEDA Records. Both albums contain original compositions with stories inspired by people and corners of Hamburg.

"Under Neon Stars" received positive reviews and media reports, and over the last few years I have played many concerts with the songs from this album, as well as some newly written songs. I want to release my fourth album entitled "Yerba Mala" at the beginning of 2019 under my own record label.

On stage I play various percussion instruments to enrich the interpretation of my compositions. I use bongos, shakers and güiro for the folkloric Latin American songs, the cajón for songs with pop beat, and for my swing pieces I play the snare drum with jazz brushes.

I use a holistic approach in my artistic expression - often I incorporate the themes of my songs into my paintings, and sometimes I write lyrics on the canvas. I also use the graphic elements of my paintings to design my flyers, posters and concert tickets. For some time now, I have also been designing my stage clothes as part of my cultural self-definition. It's great fun to let my creativity run free on the sewing machine and to achieve a wider artistic expression with my stage outfits.
