Crowdfunding since 2010

A Joshua J. Krull film written by Vera Mark

In an act of courage and kindness, a small boy saves an injured butterfly, which then accompanies him throughout his life, through good times and bad, until his story comes full circle when his grandson finds a caterpillar. Our diverse team, from the Master student in film production to the DoP working for Hollywood, is looking forward to realising this beautiful story, which in 2015 won “Best Script” in the "British Screenwriters’ Awards / Create50 shorts category".

What is this project all about?

The encounter with an injured butterfly accompanies a small boy through his entire life.

In a small act of courage and kindness, a boy saves an injured butterfly. The spirit of the ethereal creature – “Psykhe”, the Greek word for soul – accompanies him throughout his life, through good times and bad, until his story comes full circle when his grandson finds a caterpillar.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

This shortfilm will be shot on three shooting days in April 2019.
After finishing it, we want it to premiere on one of the big international film festivals.
We also want to produce DVDs and Blu-rays as thank you gifts for all our supporters.

This short film is for everyone who loves to listen to beautiful stories and who likes to join our protagonist on his journey through his own life.

Why would you support this project?

This shortfilm is a product of collaboration of creative people all around the world.

Once again, we are happy to work with our spanish Director of Photography, David Acereto, who has worked on a huge number of international feature films and series, such as "Money Heist" or "Exodus: Gods and Kings".

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

Despite all the honorary work of the people involved, a project like this inevitable creates costs – costs for:

- Production design and costumes
- Equipment rental
- Travel & Lodging for cast and crew
- Postproduction (Grading, DCP, etc.)
- Copyrights & permissions
- Insurances
- Festivals

Who are the people behind the project?

After the last successful short film "The Sands of Summers Past" from director Joshua J. Krull, he and his producer Michael Stadler decide to try new paths by bringing young producer Victor Schwarz on this journey.
The script is written by Vera Mark and has already won the "Courage & Kindness Best Script Award" at the "British Screenwriters Awards 2015".

With "Psykhe", we now want to top our last production.
