Crowdfunding since 2010

"All things go better w/ a little bit of razzmatazz..."

Razzmatazz is a feature film project set in a Welsh bar in late 1995 and features an international ensemble cast and a dedicated crew who decided to team up and create a viewing experience that will take the audience on a(n albeit fairly dark) journey back to simpler times when all you needed to get through then night was a little bit of sex and drugs and rock'n roll... and the odd accidental murder to shake things up.

What is this project all about?

3 and a half siblings

A record release party

A shady journalist

An anniversary

An accidental death

… and a whole bunch of skeletons in the closet

Razzmatazz tells the story of three siblings who meet up for the first time after 20 years to mark the anniversary of their parents’ murder-suicide and when a ruthless reporter tries to blackmail them, things turn somewhat bloody fairly quickly.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

The project's team is mostly made up of people volunteering their time, in order to help this film get made. We want to ensure that their time is the only thing that needs volunteering.
Since we have people coming from as far as Bulgaria, this means extensive travel costs. And shooting a film for three weeks (even w/ a minimal crew) does require a fairly large amount of catering.
So the main goal of this Startnext project is to raise sufficient funds that will help cover those absolutely necessary costs. And if we manage to raise a little extra cash, it will help us out in the tech department.

Razzmatazz is a character-driven story that is aimed at an audience aged 30 to 50 that takes a keen interest in independent cinema. Conceived as a feature drama, the film doesn’t just speak to middle-aged cinema-goers, of course, but also includes expats and people, struggling to find themselves.
While the film is exclusively set in the UK, there are a number of German characters involved, however the general feel is still overall very British.
Fans of Tarantino classics like Reservoir Dogs or Danny Boyle’s Trainspotting will certainly go for this kind of film.

Why would you support this project?

You will want to support us if you are either

  • an independent cinema lover,
  • a rock ‘n’ roll fan,
  • love British Culture...

... or simply want to help ensure that the German mediascape continues to evolve.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

Since we are asking for a fraction of a regular film budget, we will use the money for the following costs:

  • insurance
  • travel costs
  • FX make-up
  • additional accomodation for out-of-towners once we run out of settee spots
  • catering (so we don't start eating each other towards the last week of shooting)

If we exceed the funding goal we will also invest in:

  • additional (rental) equipment

And if we exceed the funding goal beyond our wildest imagination, we will, of course, pay all crew and cast involved a little allowance.

Who are the people behind the project?

We are part of the Bremen-based Vereinigte Künstler artists collective. Together we crew-source projects to enable the production of films, that would ordinarily take years to make. The current Vereinigte Künstler team is made up of 12 industry professionals, all sharing production responsibilities. Razzmatazz will be our first feature length film.

Cedar D. Wolf (Executive Producer) was educated at the Lee Strasberg Studio (later Method Studio) in London as well as The American Academy of Dramatic Arts (West). Besides working as a writer and director, she has spent over 15 years as a theatre producer in the German fringe scene. Cedar is currently working on a scifi series as well as the zombie comedy Somewhere Beyond the Sea and the Autumn segment for Bicolution‘s women‘s anthology project Four Seasons.
Hagen Ohlsen Schöne will serve as cinematographer and the international cast includes
Ulrich Faßnacht, Bico LaFrey, Julia Dordel, Vanina Kondova, Rita H. Wolf, Nicolo Pasetti, Todd Hunter, Linnea George-Kupfer and Christian Bourne

Thank you again for giving us this much love.
We apologise for the sound, but two actors w/ a sub par camera do not equal a camera crew...
