Funding of the boat, which will be sold post-race for the benefit of two charities. Rewards and the film project can be partially financed.
15 meters high waves, 40 °C heat, hurricanes - just a few of the challenges that Timna (25), Meike (32), Cätschi (32) and Steffi (50) have to face on the high seas while rowing across the Atlantic. You heard right: rowing!
In December 2019, the four women want to take part at the Talisker Whiskey Atlantic Challenge - the toughest rowing race in the world - and set sail with their rowboat from La Gomera (Canary Islands) and travel 3,000 nautical miles (5,500 kilometres) to Antigua (Caribbean).
But in order to make it that far, the four Hamburg women have to prepare for this physical and mental challenge for months with an intensive training program.
With your support our film project "RowHHome" (the "HH" stands for Hamburg) wants to accompany the four women on their journey and let you take part at the milestones of this adventure. In addition to the experiences in the preparation and the crossing of the Atlantic, this project is above all about the personal motivation and development of the very different women. We want to document how they battle the huge challenge, how they overcome their fears and how to get rid of all obstacles.
Did you know that to this day more people conquered Mount Everest than crossed the Atlantic Ocean in a rowboat? There were even more people in the universe!
We have two goals:
1st) Cätschi, Meike, Steffi and Timna want to row across the Atlantic Ocean and fulfil their lifelong dream together. For this they need your support and half of the funding will go to the rowing project.
2nd) We, Silvia and Guido, want to accompany the women with the camera over the entire period and produce an inspiring film. In addition, there should be a website with many videos of the one and a half year preparation.
Our target group are all people who want to become part of this project and who believe that it is worth pursuing a personal dream. Let’s support the first German team on the way across the Atlantic together!
With RowHHome, we want to inspire people to pursue their own dreams and goals while supporting two charities.
With the film project we want to make you companions and create something lasting that will encourage as many people as possible for their own challenges in life.
Cätschi, Meike, Steffi and Timna support the two great charities “Kinderlachen e.V.” and “Zeit für Zukunft e.V.” by reselling the boat after the race.
We are in the starting blocks for the biggest (movie-) adventure of our lives. The boat is already in the city of Hamburg, we have pulled out the cameras and have already started shooting. But still the project is not completely financed.
Funding goal - 60.000 Euro
With successful funding of the funding goal, the four rowers can pay the boat and finance the expensive technical equipment (radios, water treatment plant, GPS transmitter, etc.). In addition, participation in mandatory compulsory courses (Navigation, Sea Survival, Radiotelephone, First Aid etc.) is paid so that women can safely cross the Atlantic. We (Silvia and Guido) can cover an important part of the production costs for the movie and the web documentation.
In addition, the amount of the rewards will be financed.
Stretching goal - 120.000 Euro
Should we also reach the stretching goal, the RowHHome crew can finance their safety equipment, spare sculls for the ocean rowing boat and the necessary food for 100 days at sea. The film crew can fly to the four women to Antigua and allow more shooting days. We can buy/borrow additional salt water-proof camera equipment and finance another important part of the movie. We will then celebrate a great movie premiere with you and produce many extras for the DVD / Blu-ray.
The people behind RowHHome are:
Catharina "Cätschi" Streit (32), works at a large Hamburg coffee roasting company in quality assurance. She is a former hockey player, triathlete and will be in at any adventure any time. She also had the idea to participate in the Atlantic Challenge.
Meike Ramuschkat (32), is a cardiologist and has known "Cätschi" since childhood. Together, the two have already experienced a lot and were already together on the Kilimanjaro.
Stefanie "Steffi" Kluge (50) is PTA and works at a vocational school. She has her roots comes originally from athletics, but has been rowing successfully for several years in the senior section (sorry, Steffi ;-)). She is looking forward to the adventure of her life.
Timna Kluge (25) is a graduated medical technician. Together with her mother Steffi the passionate rower is a well-rehearsed team.
Timna replaces Jenny Seibt, who unfortunately had to leave the project for private reasons.
Silvia Weihermüller is a film producer. She is the heart of the film company CLOSE DISTANCE PRODUCTIONS, with which she produces successful documentaries for cinema, TV and the Internet.
Guido Weihermüller is a director and loves to make films. For him, the human beings are always at the center of the story. RowHHome is his sixth major film project.
