What is this project all about?

The crickets chirp. The sound of the river can be heard in the distance. The fire crackles, the wood cracks. We are sitting around a campfire. There are various figures around us. A man with a dog mask, a woman with a butterfly wing, a speaking cactus, a mute knight in noble armor, a little girl with green eyes and many more. They listen to me. Me, the storyteller who once wrote music for their worlds.

The album Short Stories takes you into strange fantasy worlds and invites you into a dream. Forget about the pandemic and your everyday problems.

The album includes new compositions alongside with a best-of of soundtracks I wrote for short films, trailers, animations and video games over the past few years. Some of the older tracks have been re-recorded with new arrangements. You will hear a lot of ethereal chants, orchestra, Mellotron and Minimoog on this album.

Most of the music on Short Stories is instrumental. There will be some vocal artists on few tracks. The following tracks will be found on the new album. The order does not correspond to the actual track list of the finished production. Some title names are still work in progress.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

If you are interested in exciting, dreamy instrumental non-mainstream music, you will like the concept and album. I always put personal feelings into my compositions. You will get to know a part of me better through listening to the music. Many thoughts and feelings that have developed over the past year due to the lockdown and the pandemic were also put into the music.

Why would you support this project?

My musical theatre piece El-Oh-Vee-Ee was going to hit the stage in 2021. Unfortunately, the project had to be postponed due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

To keep myself busy and explore new sonic landscapes I decided to work on Short Stories.

You can now support new independent music by an upcoming unconventional non-mainstream artist and keep culture alive during this pandemic.

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

Your support helps to cover the costs of the project. It includes fees for all involved and freelance professionals (sound engineer, graphic designer, vocal artist), CD production, graphic design, photos, print.

Who are the people behind the project?

My name is Tristan Blaskowitz, I studied time-based media M.A. at the University of Applied Sciences in Mainz. I'm currently working as a freelance composer and filmmaker.

In my bachelor's degree I focussed on film. I made my own short films and also worked in cooperation with ZDF and SWR. In 2016 I made my stage debut with “Bedtime Story - Live In Concert”, where I did a live show for a video game an orchestra, actors and video.

In my master’s degree I dedicated myself to music and composed soundtracks for short films and video games. The final project was the multimedia musical theatre El-Oh-Ve-Ee. The show will hit the stage after the pandemic.
