Crowdfunding since 2010

Education, art and culture need more space especially because of Corona

In order to be able to offer enough space for future events and to guarantee the constructural safety around the former inn JohannesHof, we have applied for public funding. To implement the investments, a financial contribution of € 15,000 must be raised. HELP!

What is this project all about?

The corona hygiene regulations must be followed at all events. This also includes the distance requirement. As a result, we have fewer visitors in our previously used rooms. In order to still be able to pay the artists by fair means, we are expanding our spatial capacity.
For this we foresee to use areas in and around the JohannesHof, which makes the renovation of the house entrance stairs, the plastered facade and the roof necessary. The current condition of the entrance stairs, as shown in one of the pictures, very well reflects the renovation backlog of the house.

What is the project goal and who is the project for?

In the end, cultural events are the purpose of renovation work. That means that building work is necessary as it increases the safety of visitors and improves the infrastructure.
The renovation of the JohannesHof should also have an appealing effect - a beautiful building is more likely to be entered.

Why would you support this project?

Central Saxony, as the past elections have shown, needs a change of perspective. The cultural workshops of JohannesHof are supported by actors from the local region, central Saxony, Saxony-wide and from all over Europe. This leads to various interactions between the cultural workers and the visitors.
Our events are cross-generational and intercultural. In the past two years we have carried out over 250 events during the 'Kultursprossen' project series. These included a garden project, cold forging workshops, herb hikes as well as repair lessons and qigong courses. We invited artists from Dresden to lyrical card play and music groups from Italy and France let us dance to Boombal music. Based on the EU Council Presidency, we held cooking evenings and played chess with refugees. In 2018 we organized a 2-week construction camp together with the International Building Order. Besides working together, we also visited cultural institutions in the region with the 10 participants (e.g. visitor mine "Reiche Zeche", Freiberg). Such actions create a positive image of our region and its people. The current political situation gives us a lot of headwind especially because of our open-culture approach. We can only oppose this by the beauty of culture and education!

How will we use the money if the project is successfully funded?

Successful financing helps to guarantee our contribution necessary for public funding.
Of course there are little rewards. Those, we see as small gifts and look forward to welcoming you to the JohannesHof for the handover. You want to know how JohannesHof is developing. Join a tour, coffee & cake, a little chat :)

Who are the people behind the project?

The Kulturwerkstätten JohannesHof e.V. got a bit more than 20 members. They come from the region, Dresden, Leipzig but also from Syria. Our circle of friends spreads across Europe.
And we hope that there will be another time when we can tackle projects together.
