Reducing ancient tree cutting in rural Costa Rica by creating alternative sources of income!
Economically depressed areas in rural Costa Rica offer people little prospects of work. Cutting and selling old trees on their properties is too often becoming a way to make money for these people. This project offers people sustainable ways to earn money, which do no harm to themselves or to nature, and encourages locals to plant trees. People get a direct financial benefit by selling their own cashew apples, which almost everyone here has on their land.
