Hallo liebe Freekeh-Freunde es ist Zeit für ein neues Update!
Seit dem erfolgreichen Abschluss der Kampagne „Get Freekeh“ ist einiges geschehen.
Im Norden der Westbank/ Palästina haben wir Bio-Bauern gefunden, die das grüne Korn seit vielen Jahren anbauen und wir sind mit ihnen im intensiven Gespräch. Und wir waren mit unterschiedlichen Logistikunternehmen in Verhandlungen und mussten abwägen welchen Transportweg wir wählen – über Land, auf dem Wasser oder in der Luft, in einer Teil-, Massen- oder Einzellieferung. Conflictfood hat sich für die nachhaltigste Variante entschieden.
Auch alle anderen „Dankeschöns“ werden gerade produziert: Die Magnete sind schon da, die Taschen werden gerade bedruckt, am Kochbuch wird noch gefeilt...
Noch ist eure finanzielle Unterstützung auf dem Konto der Crowdfunding-Plattform Startnext. Noch ein paar Formalitäten und dann erhalten wir das Funding-Geld und eure Angaben für die Versendung aller „Dankeschöns“.
Sobald das in den nächsten Tagen geschehen ist, kann sich auch das Freekeh von unseren palästinensischen Partnern auf dem Weg nach Deutschland machen.
Das bedeutet aber, es gibt leider kein Freekeh-Weihnachtsessen. Wir müssen uns alle noch etwas gedulden.
Wusstet ihr, dass wir gerade auch aus Afghanistan zurückgekommen sind?
Dort baut ein selbstverwaltetes Frauenkollektiv, das vorher Opium angebaut hat, heute wunderbaren Safran an.
Wir haben die Frauen 2015 und jetzt aktuell Ende November diesen Jahres zum zweiten Mal besucht und ihnen wieder Safran fair und direkt abgekauft.
Auch das Kinderheim in Kabul, welches wir unterstützen, haben wir ein weiteres Mal besucht und den Kindern das Holz für die Winterzeit und einen Warmwasserboiler gekauft.

Dear Freekeh-Friends! It’s time for an update! A lot of things have happened since we successfully finished our crowdfunding campaign “Get Freekeh”!
We found organic famers in the north of the West Bank/Palestine who have cultivated freekeh for years and with whom we are in close contact. We have negotiated with numerous logistics companies to find the most suitable option to transport our power grain – via land, water or air route, in partial or mass delivery or one-time supply. Conflictfood goes with the most sustainable alternative. Our rewards are being produced at this very moment: The magnets arrived, the bags are being printed and we are fine-tuning the final version of our cookbook. At this point, your financial support is still on the crowdfunding platform account Startnext. Few formalities need to be arranged until we receive the funding and your information to start shipping the rewards. All of this will be organized within the next few days, so our Freekeh can finally start its journey from our Palestinian partners all the way to Germany. Unfortunately, this means we have to forego the Freekeh Christmas dinner and stay patient for a little longer.
Did you know we just came back from Afghanistan?
A women’s collective in the suburbs of Herat that used to grow opium before, is now cultivating marvelous saffron. We visited this collective twice – in 2015 and just now at the end of November this year to buy saffron in fair and direct trade again. We additionally visited an orphan’s house in Kabul that we support, to offer a supply of firewood and a water boiler for the children during wintertime.
