Rural realities rarely read right?
We reached the first 1000 and we are enormously grateful for that! Now it's time to share some more bits and pieces of our mission with you:
By the term "rural realities" hinterlands refers to stories and experiences off the beaten reporting track. Often, the countryside is talked about through stereotypes and interpretations of urbanites, strengthening a cultural hegemony of the urban that is present in all kinds of societal fields.
hinterlands magazine therefore explicitly invites journalists, authors and photographers from non-urban areas to share their realities and create new narratives of the rural!
