This magazine is nonprofit; We will use the money to bring the magazine alive and realize it. Fundraising this project will help in the printing process.
This is the first edition of the magazine which portrays 70 designers from 14 different Arab countries as we have realized that there’s no platform for Arab designer to showcase their work so we’ve decided to treasure and display those artworks by creating a publication that celebrates our beautiful Arabic language and ancient heritage as well as features different Arab designers and introduces different cultures. Featuring some designers like Wissam Shawkat, Ali El-Masry, Mehdi Boubekeur, Mirna Nouman, Hassan Kamil, Imaan Raad, Shamma Buhazza, Pascal Zoghbi, Amina Amoniak, Zena Adhami, Khouloud Hajri, and Haitham Haddad.
Our journey started with a long research process. From looking for designers in each country to interviewing them via zoom meetings. It has been a crazy ride, especially during covid as it was challenging to work together as a group while quarantining most of the times and that was how our first publication was made. Two to four young designers at first chose some countries to work on as a group, the result was a small magazine consisting of designers from two to five Arab countries. Phase two was the big publication “Makhzan Magazine” as all the 18 designers worked together as one team.
Makhzan magazine is for all visual enthusiasts; An archive for anyone interested in arts, design, and exploring various cultures and a source of inspiration for different design fields.
We aim to create a platform and magazine that exhibit Arab visual culture through the eye of graphic design. We can’t do this alone without your support in the printing, bookbinding, and all the rest of the production process.
Fundraising this project will help to cover the cost for translation, printing, bookbinding and bring it alive
Makhzan magazine is presented to you by 18 young designers from Cairo.
