Woman in the Mirror/Mata Hari Kurzfilm/Festivals

It's about Mata Haris very first performance in 1904 in Paris.
After hitting rock bottom she reinvented herself, manem herself "Mata Hari" which means in Malayian "eye of the day" or "sun". She put herself into the center and started to become the master of her faith. Therefore she had to face a toough decision.

"Woman in the Mirror" looks at the moment leading up to Mata Hari's first public performance. Her real name was Margaretha Geertruida Zelle, a Dutch woman, who had lost everything, when not abiding to the social constraints of her time. She reinvented herself as the persona Mata Hari and became a pioneer for female empowerment. As a semi-nude dancer, she not only revolutionized the image of the female body but managed to built her own career when women were not even allowed to have a bank account. She became the shooting star of the Belle Epoque.

We want to send our short film to more festivals. We already won an award and a nomination and were selected for several festivals. ut we still would love to got for the bigger fetivals and on a more international level. We believe, Mata Hari is underrated and if referenced more commonly known for her work as a double spy during WWI (even though papers proof she - more than a spy - was actress, who liked to play with fire enchanting her lovers in the highest political positions). Diving deeper in her non-conformist character and her meaning as female role model, Mata Hari's first performance in 1905 at the Musée Guimet in Paris is a much more intriguing moment of her life.
