PEARL

Our short film tells the story of Black Pearl, a young, talented multidisciplinary artist, dancer and model from São Paulo. Through a symbiosis of modern and abstract storytelling, we create a mix of a cinematic, documentary-like narrative that attempts to portray her life story. We work with a mix of a scenic, documentary and visually strong narrative.The core of the story is a dance choreography consisting of elements of modern ballet, contemporary and vogue. Emotions portrayed will be intensified by a variety of visual tools.

With our short film "PEARL" we want to draw attention to the topics of equality, diversity, fear and encourage our audience to think.

This film is dedicated to the people who are too “old” to learn, the people who feel suppressed, the people who are living their true self and the people who have not figured it out yet… basically to everyone.

The goal is to give the message and the film as big a platform as possible and to submit it to various short film festivals as well as to create a campaign around the project on social media.
Our ambition is to create cinematic images that both inspire and catch the audience.
The film encourages us to think about the importance of interpersonal connection and the impact of modern society on our well-being.

It is unfortunate that in today’s society few people are familiar with the term “transgender” and understand its meaning. Our society is still significantly oriented towards a binary gender system, which makes it extremely difficult for people who do not fit into this system to adapt and be accepted. They face numerous challenges in finding their own way and integrating into a society that often adheres to rigid notions of gender and identity. With our film, we want to create conscious engagement on this issue. We want to encourage people to broaden their perspectives, break down prejudices and develop empathy for the experiences of transgender people.
In doing so, we, as young filmmakers, want to create a working environment in which equality, inclusion and diversity are in the foreground and all participants can work together appreciatively and respectfully. We stand against sexism, homophobia, transphobia, racism, anti-Semitism, and any other form of discrimination.

In addition to basic expenses such as catering or renting the filming locations, we are raising money to be able to rent additional equipment and cover travel costs for the crew and cast. The costumes and appropriate props are also important for the overall mood of the film.

A part of the production costs are covered by the team, but the required budget is too high to finance it completely privately. We need your support to implement the project so that it has the emotional effect that it needs to bring the message to the people.

All participants work unpaid and voluntarily. The money raised thus goes exclusively to the realization of the shoot and the implementation of the entire film project.
