Originally from Germany I am now based in London and founder of Melanie Jones PR. I studied Business Management and Administration before moving to London where I studies psychology at the Open University London. I worked within the Fashion, Entertainment and TV industry in Germany and in London. Since its inception I have been the Head of International Public Relations for Africa Fashion Day Berlin over the past four seasons.
As a German with dual heritage and a background in fashion Borderless Global Fashion Market is particularly dear to my heart.
It is giving a platform to culturally relevant fashion yet informed by global and local influences and for a local as well as a global market place. The advancement of technology and social media is consistently moving us closer to one another in our business and personal relationships. Cultural barriers and preconceptions are continuously being challenged; fashion is one way of doing so but most importantly it can provide economic opportunities for creatives, designers and makers wherever they are in the world if given a platform and opportunity. Initiatives such as this one is such a platform and it supports local businesses and individuals, bringing different communities together and adding to the economy.
