I am a PhD student at the Berlin Brandenburg Center for Regenerative Medicine at the Charité Berlin. My project is about the devolopment of an epicardial patch system to support the infarcted heart upon infarction. Even though there were progresses and successes I had to face multiple setbacks on my way. For that reason, this symposium is a matter close to my heart to liberate a new view in science. A setback is not a loss of time, it is a new chance to change your point of view and improve your strategy. Infortunately, in science mainly only success counts and the long try-and-error-phase is still too often ignored, although it is an inevitable part of every research.
