I am a Communication design student at the University of Arts and Design Karlsruhe. I'm currently living in Nairobi Kenya, where I founded a Design project in the Eastlands of Nairobi called "Usanii Lab". Although most of the Usani Lab crew come from poor areas such as slums, I'm always impressed by their motivtion, talents and creativity. I hope our Design collective can show a different picture of Africa and the great potential which is there as opposed to the images of poverty and nice landscapes which we are so often bombarded with.
Before studying Design I studied African studies for two years. I also lived in South Africa for a year and have travelled throughout the continent a lot. During my travels I learned to know about Kenya, a country on the upswing with a young creative scene, and particularly Nairobi a chaotic but booming town.
