PRESS RELEASE
REMAKE AT DMY FESTIVAL — (RE)THINKING SOCIAL DESIGN
23rd of May, 2014 — REMAKE Festival has partnered up with DMY International Design Festival. After REMAKE successfully kicked-off in Berlin last year with a 4 day long festival at PLATOON KUNSTHALLE Berlin, we are now taking the next step with a special focus REMAKE edition: 28 May – 1 June 2014 at former airport Tempelhof.
REMAKE’s program consists of three integral parts.
The (RE)THINKING SOCIAL DESIGN workshop: with a hands-on approach, we will rethink the ways we create, produce and use goods and services. The main aim of the moderated workshop is to make a white box of social design which will be filled with physical and written impressions of participating experts and DMY visitors.
Reacting on the current situation in REMAKE's home country Serbia, which is currently facing the biggest natural disaster in the past 120 years, the workshop participants will work on a case study dealing with the floods in the Balkans. We will pose the question how can social design and social businesses help societies after natural disasters alternatively to the state and institutions.
The RECAP ROUNDTABLE discussions will be curated based on the daily content of the workshop. Pre-registered visitors have preference due to the limited number of seats.
Our REMAKE AREA (and refunc.nl) will form an inviting space to hang out, exchange and sample spontaneous ideas from the workshop.
DMY Festival hosts 250 exhibitors, 700 Designers from 30 countries with expected 15,000 visitors. With this edition of REMAKE we will rethink and reshape the concept of traditional festivals and fairs — DMY visitors will be invited to participate and get their hands dirty!
