Summer has arrived! Outdoor seating!
Here's a picture of the front patio area outside the S1 Cafe. It could use a little love but has a lot of potential! We would like to build some tables, benches, and planters to create a comfortable outdoor spot. It would be unique on Georg-Schwarz Straße as there are so few streetside areas with enough space for seating.
There are gardens and parks connected to the side streets in the neighbourhood,. However, this would be one of the only spots on Georg-Schwarz Straße itself that might act as a catalyst for an impromptu chat with neighbours or friends. It is that sort of public space that can have a real positive effect on the character of a street area.
Last Winter we used some of the old window rollers to create new window coverings inside the main room (pictured). They look great and it is nice to retain some of the history of the building. We have two large rolls of this material left (also pictured) and would like to create some outdoor benches with it. Our neighbours at Fischbar have done this as well and it worked out really well. Finally, building some planters and tables would go a long way to making a very comfortable spot outside. You can also see a rough sketch of our idea for an outdoor layout.
