Day 15 of our crowdfunding campaign
Dear Supporters,
So far we have raised 22% of our goal which, for a first crowdfunding experience, isn’t too shabby. Your support thus far has been amazing and I feel blessed everyday as this campaign is running. Thank you, you are all wonders! For those of you who haven’t yet contributed, we are still keeping our fingers crossed that you will.
We started building our café last September and are very pleased with the cosy and welcoming atmosphere we’ve managed on our shoestring budget. Now in this second phase, the money we are raising is for the construction of a fully functional kitchen where we can finally offer a proper bite in addition to our drinks and pastries.
I would now like to share some of my genuine insight into the realities of crowdfunding and the mental strength it takes while running a campaign. Although I was warned many times that this would be a tough path, my Scorpio temperament chose to ignore those comments and rather believe it would be possible with many a mental statement of: “I can do this. Of course I can do this.”
Well, as it turns out I might have been wrong.
Most projects which fail are due to lack of good preparation before the funding phase. Despite my doing my homework on this subject and speaking with initiated people, I realise now that I´m well and truly in the thick of it, how very needed that preparation is. Especially as once a campaign is launched, there is no going back.
I hope that my little experience and lessons learnt with this crowdfunding can be helpful to those of you who will choose this method in future to realize your own dreams. Something to anticipate as more and more people in Europe will be using crowdfunding in the coming years.
A final uplifting phrase that has bolstered me through this project comes from our pastry chef: “Tamara, the only people who can’t fail, are those who do bugger all.”
On that note, we wish you a lovely weekend and thank you for your encouragement.
