Der Sockelbetrag wird benötigt um die Arbeit an der 4. Ausgabe zu beginnen und die Beteiligten wie Journalisten, Fotografen und Designer zu zahlen.
The topic of our 4th will be about architecture on the Middle East and North Africa.
The print-magazine This Orient gives an insight into the Middle Eastern and North African art scene and the Diaspora.
Every issue has a specific topic always related to people from the MeNa region and the diaspora.
For artists and cultural workers the haptic is important as well as for us - therefore we print. The magazine itself is our medium which we regard as a space, an exhibition space where we select carefully each story.
The magazine contains about 150 pages which will be available at our website and well chosen book stores.
Our aim is to create a magazine which appears once a year. It is about the MeNa region and the Diaspora with all their variations.
The richness of specialities, the pure potential and authenticity of Middle Eastern and North African regions needs to be explored and shared with the world.
We explore the past, but also celebrates the contemporary North African and Middle Eastern culture and art scene, with all its variations.
The name This Orient implies the idea of a space no matter if physical or not, where one feel free to express hisself.
Our readers are mostly part of the art and culture scene and, or working in the creative industry. But the magazine is also for those who are just interested in the MeNa region having no roots there but planning a trip.
We want to continue our work as a magazine. But therefore we need you. It feels like there is a gap when it comes to magazines featuring the MeNa region. There is still so much more to explore. We want to discover as most as we can and we want you to join us on our journey.
The 1st funding level (5k€) is needed to start the work by paying fees of the designer, journalists and photographers. For the 2nd funding level (+15k€) we can finance the print. By collecting +30€k we can realize the 5th issue as well. Help us to let something beautiful grow.
Marouane Ben Belfort founded this magazine back in 2016 together with his former partner Yasmin Rahmanzadeh - both architects. 2020 Marouane decided to focus the magazine on the MeNa region and the Diaspora - issue 3 had been born. Responsible for the graphic design of the magazine is Alex Hunting. For every issue we compile a new team which consists of specialists related to to various topics.
