Code-Sprint successfully completed! Phase 3 to follow!
Since the funding phase had already closed with an overfunding of 20%, phase 2 followed as announced with the code sprint in Clausthal-Zellerfedl. After this week we can say, that each of the participants is more than satisfied. Eve
n though there were less developers available than we actually had expected, we still achieved a lot and have completed more than half of the tasks already. The atmosphere was great, the team cooperated very well and the participants perfectly complemented each other.
Sebastian Böttger and Martin Krause have been provided until Tuesday on location as well as remotely and have fixed a lot of the workspace and multi language problems. Stefan Frömken has been engaged for 5 days with splitting up the classes and methods into smaller maintainable chunks and writing appropriate unit tests for them. Tobias Ferger has been responsible for different interface tasks for the whole sprint and has fixed lots of bugs and implemented new features. Dirk Hoffmann joined us during the last 3 days and has been concentrated on modifying the list module so that it can handle columns and nested elements. Rocco Georgi joined us remotely and took over the "get me a copy from another page" feature. For TU Clausthal Jens Bordeaux as the admin was in charge of supporting us with technical stuff and he produced the gridelements goodies for the developers. Petra Hasenau took care of booking the hotel rooms, the working facilities, catering and the restaurants as well as tickets for our external activities thus providing a comfortable and stress free environment for the developers. Colin Hasenau supported Petra and Tobi with different design tasks and was available as a tester. Fiona Hasenau attended the sprint taking pictures and writing texts. Jo Hasenau has been responsible for the development road map, provided bug fixes and features and took care of frequent blog posts, face book messages and tweets.
Even outside the hours of development, we had a lot of fun together. We visited a mining plant, had dinner in the local restaurants, did some guitar hero sessions together and finally went to the top of the Brocken with the historic narrow-gauge railway for a coding session. Everyboody enjoyed it a lot and would like to join us again for future projects.
Now we are in phase 3 of the project. The developers will remotely continue working on their tasks, so that we will be able to complete gridelements 2.0 until 31st of January. Especially the optimizing of the frontend output for different templating engines and the migration of the code for TYPO3 6.x, as well as the finalizing of the other features will be on our schedule for the next 2 1/2 weeks.
If you want to provide us with code, documentation or testing of fixes and features, feel free to contact Petra to discuss the financial details.
In the name of all participants again we want to say thank you to all supporters. Without you the project in it's current state would not have been possible.
We will keep you informed about the progress of phase 3.
