To go with this album, we want to produce a new batch of band merchandise. T-shirts and hats were so popular when we tried it out in 2019, but then we sold out and the pandemic meant we couldn't afford to invest in new stock. We still can't. We'd also like to offer stickers, mugs and other things too.
Contrary to myths spread on the internet and some media and marketing, it is definitely not "free" to record an album. Especially not recordings of acoustic instruments and singers. To get it right and deliver something people really want to listen to and will cherish, it costs thousands of euros/pounds/dollars. We have to pay for studio time, equipment, travel and many, many hours invested in preparing this music for an inspiring recording. But it's worth it!
You can also help us establish a stock of merchandise to sell online and at gigs - and get your hands on some too!
We've jumped the gun and have already been working on this album at Andrew's professional studio facility for a year and it's nearly finished. We're very excited about this collection of songs and tunes and how it's sounding. The studio has running costs and working in there for other artists is Andrew's main source of income. So the deal was, any time the band is playing, the studio is free. But all editing and mixing (this is always the most time consuming part of the process) needs to be paid for.
Thanks to this special deal, we've been able to really take our time and make sure only the most inspiring versions of our numbers make it to the album.
After the final mixes have been signed off, we need to pay a mastering engineer to prepare the tracks for release. We also need to finance the pressing of the CDs, printing of the packaging and the obtaining a copyright license (in Germany we need this for our own songs!). In order to reach specialist radio stations and magazines, a promotional company is usually paid to send out copies and badger editors until the album is covered or played. This elevation of our profile in the media usually also helps us to secure more gigs and get out to play for our fans more, so this is and important part of keeping our band afloat.
We don't live lavish lifestyles, but we do need to buy food and pay rent. Part of the funds raised are designated to hopefully support us financially and enable us to continue investing our time in the band and our music.
Most of the money will be used for direct costs related to producing the album and the merchandise. We don't live lavish lifestyles, but we do need to buy food and pay rent. Part of the funds raised are designated to hopefully support us financially and enable us to continue investing our time in the band and our music.
What you get is the chance to own our new album on CD, get T-shirts and other goodies - all of which can only come in to existence with your help!
