Without a ventilation system, we won’t get the permit to use the building housing the ballroom as a public venue.
Over the past five years, we have been establishing a lively place in a former armaments factory in Dresden-Pieschen for people who make art and culture happen in Dresden as well as for people who want to see it there. It is a special kind of free space for everything that does not find a room anymore elsewhere in the city. Creative minds of all genres live and/or work in 60 studios and 20 apartments.
The ballroom, to be used for concerts, performances, theater production and many other things, is unique in Dresden.
Apart from the ballroom, the building houses an exhibition space and, soon, a bar.
It is our aim to use the building housing a ballroom, a bar and an exhibition space on a permanent basis. With your help, we want to build this place a future in Dresden!!
Because here, in a unique, historic and – above all – simply beautiful ballroom, theater productions, concerts, readings, performances and many more things can happen.
Because Zentralwerk offers a lasting free space for culture based on participation.
Because a place like that can be a vision for a self-defined form of life and culture in the city.
Projects that start here reach out towards society. Continuance and participation count among the values that guide our actions.
In order to be granted the permit to use the ballroom as a public venue, we need a ventilation system. Of the total of 135.000 Euros we will have to invest, 85.000 Euros have already been raised, which means that we need another 30.000 Euros for fresh air. With 40.000 Euros, we could also connect a heating system to the ventilation, which would provide us with hot air and the possibility to use the ballroom throughout the year!
Here, projects of all kinds of initiatives have their origin: Farbwerk e.V., Cie. Freaks und Fremde, Coloradio, Szene 12, Zentralwerk e.V., TanzNnetzDresden, Jam Circle and many more.
We are approximately 150 people of all stripes and sorts: craftsmen, theater people, musicians and architects.
