The money will be used to cover all production costs so that we can make our film.
Synopsis of our short film
After a mix-up at a camera shop Ada receives pictures of a young woman who looks exactly like her. She examines the photos and her fascination with this strange woman starts to grow. Ada visits the photographed places. She begins to resemble more and more to the woman in the photos. Her clothes and expressions change. Ultimately, she visits the young woman's house and is confronted with something unexpected.
Our story is about the question of self-image and the perception of others, how we see ourselves and how we are seen by others. The pictures of the strange woman seem like a magic mirror for Ada. Her imagination is enhanced by the photos and guides her to a different self-image. In the age of digital media the power and seductiveness of images are bigger than ever.
We want to make it possible to experience aesthetically what it means to live in a world in which you are surrounded by countless pictures and what this excess does to us. How does it affect our self-image? We want to express artistically the lack of being that characterizes people - constantly wanting to be different and more.
Our goal is to make the film as professional as possible. In addition to that, it is our big dream to shoot this short film on 16mm film.
It is very difficult for young filmmakers to get (financial) support for their projects. In addition, it is even more difficult for students like us to get the chance to work with analogue film. Unfortunately, we don't get a budget from our university either and are therefore dependent on your help!
The money will go into the making of the film. First of all, production costs that are necessary to make the film will be covered: transport of equipment, catering and rental of additional equipment that our university does not have.
If we manage to raise a higher amount of money, everything would go towards 16mm film material, scanning and digitizing.
We are students of Screen Based Media at the Berliner Hochschule für Technik. During the last three years we have worked together on many projects and have developed a very close working relationship. Abzüge is our biggest project yet that we have been working on for a while now.
